Just after midnight, the incident in Swalwell was attended by both Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and Northumbria Police. ‌The fire service received the call just after 12am on Friday, and responded to what was described as a 'road traffic collision', as a car collided with a lamppost. Emergency services attended where a car was found on its roof and on fire, having collided with a lamppost. "The fire was swiftly extinguished by colleagues at the fire service, with the occupants of the car leaving the scene before police arrived.
