Car over bank and on fire in Coromandel PeninsulaTwo people have escaped from a car which crashed over a bank and caught fire. Emergency services were called to a coastal Coromandel Peninsula road about 8.30am on Saturday. A car had crashed over a bank on Thames Coast Road - near Tapu - and caught fire, said Senior Sergeant Pete Simpson, of the Waikato District Command Centre. "The car was on fire but there were no persons trapped in the vehicle," she said. One person from the car was seriously injured and another had moderate injuries.
