Many of the 150-odd trespassers, who came from a nearby slum, carried iron rods and bricks, Oasis residents said. Repeated pleas that such a car did not belong to anyone in the complex fell on deaf ears. Another car then arrived and picked up the three stranded occupants - two women and a man - and drove off. By the time reinforcements arrived around 9am, the vandals had smashed almost every car they could see and left, residents said. No senior officer visited the spot till evening but the police jerked into action later, picking up four people from the Panditiya Road slum.
