Police said the car hit a roundabout before becoming airborne and crashing into the ANZ bank in Onehunga. A driver is in hospital with serious injuries after allegedly crashing his car into a central Auckland shop front. Auckland police Sergeant Chris Painter told Stuff the man had been driving up Church St, Onehunga, "at speed" when he hit a roundabout "got airborne and landed in the front of a bank". A police spokeswoman said police stopped following the fleeing driver prior to the crash due to his manner of driving. She said the Serious Crash Unit was investigating.
