Captiongate: How a Single Zoom Call Propelled Canada’s Greens Into Pronoun Meltdown

Out of 338 Members of Parliament, Canada’s Greens have never had more than three MPs. On Sept. 27 I began the process of stepping down as Green Party of Canada Leader. But, thanks to the installation of a 30-year-old interim leader named Amita Kuttner, they very much did. Kuttner’s attempt to weaponize this (apparently very oppressive) instance of miscaptioning forms part of an ongoing civil war that’s been playing out for weeks within the Green leadership. #GPC pic.twitter.com/ewjRkQCwhH — Jonathan Pedneault (@j_pedneault) September 6, 2022Another party official who resigned (this resignation hasn’t been rescinded yet) is Green Party president Lorraine Rekmans.
