Otago Country racked up 216 batting first on Saturday before McKenzie settled into his work with the bat. Otago Country was 13-2 in its second innings when rain started to fall and play was eventually called off with Otago Country claiming first innings points. Southland went into the showdown against Otago Country leading the southern zone but its push for another Hawke Cup challenge was health a blow on the back of the trip to Molyneux Park.
