Wearing a Trump-Pence baseball cap, the protester - who identified himself as Thomas from New Jersey - said the woman had "rushed to the windows" before being shot in the neck. Speaking during a WUSA9 TV interview following the incident, he said the woman wouldn't follow police officers' commands to get out of the way. He added that "it could have been me" that was shot, "but she went in first - it was one of us". Pictures showed a woman covered in blood as emergency services treated her on the floor of the Capitol.
