Daniel Keays, 21, of Bedford, N.S., faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, failure to stop at scene of an accident, assault causing bodily harm and assault of police officers causing bodily harm. On Wednesday, the court learned he was now in a Cape Breton Regional Hospital mental health unit. "He was sedated and he was not conscious, and therefore could not participate in the proceedings," Crown attorney Sheldon Nathanson said. 'Not conscious'Judge Jean Whalen then ordered the bail hearing be moved to the hospital. Lawyers for the Crown and defence, two sheriffs and reporters went to the unit — but the hearing did not take place.
