Goaltender Jacob Markstrom will be away from the Vancouver Canucks until later this week, general manager Jim Benning said on Monday. “Jacob Markstrom has been granted a leave of absence to attend to a family matter and is expected to rejoin the Canucks on the road this weekend. Respectfully, we will not offer any further comment,” Benning said in a statement posted to the team’s Twitter account. The 29-year-old Markstrom is 2-2-0 with a 2.23 goals-against average and .926 save percentage on the season. The Canucks are expected to start Thatcher Demko in goal when they host the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday night.
