VANCOUVER — General manager Jim Benning says the Vancouver Canucks were looking to add a proven goal scorer when they made a last-minute deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday. Benning said sending defenceman Erik Gudbranson to the Penguins for winger Tanner Pearson just prior to the trade deadline adds a “good hockey player” to Vancouver’s roster. “We think he’s going to be a good fit with either (Elias Pettersson) or (Bo Horvat). He’s just another guy that can score for us.”The Canucks (26-28-8) will be Pearson’s third team of the season. We want to continue doing a good job drafting and developing and rebuilding the team,” Benning said.
