BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The New York Islanders are one of the NHL’s most impressive defensive outfits. Miller, Quinn Hughes and Tim Schaller, while the Islanders’ got goals from Michael Dal Colle, Jordan Eberle and Brock Nelson. The winning goal was scored by Hughes 42 seconds into overtime, a floating wrist shot that eluded Isles netminder Thomas Greiss. Hughes scored a goal off the wing when his shot toward the net hit the foot of Islanders’ defenceman Scott Mayfield and fluttered through goaltender Greiss. “I actually thought he had scored,” Miller said of the Tanev shot.
