Canterbury MPs who held on to their seats this election say they feel humbled and grateful their communities have backed them again. Labour's Poto Williams increased her electorate and party vote in Christchurch East and held a barbecue for her campaign team on Sunday. Labour Port Hills MP Ruth Dyson said she was humbled to be returned with an increased majority and to achieve an increased party vote. He was voted back with a minor decrease in the electorate vote compared to 2014, but a huge lift for party votes to Labour.
