Canterbury lines company Orion appoints new group chief executive


New Orion chief executive Nigel Barbour will be responsible for a combined asset base of $1.2 billion and more than 600 staff. Nigel Barbour has been appointed group chief executive of Canterbury lines company Orion. Barbour takes on the role after nine years as chief executive of Powerco, New Zealand’s second largest electricity distribution business, which is based in New Plymouth. The Orion Group is 89 per cent owned by CCHL – the investment arm of Christchurch City Council – and 11 per cent owned by Selwyn District Council.
