A Canterbury family of six have lost everything in a blaze that gutted their home on Thursday. A Canterbury firefighter's home has been completely gutted in an early evening blaze, leaving their family with only "the clothes they stand in". A post on the Leeston Volunteer Fire Brigade confirmed the house belonged to "one of our own". The family who lived there included two adults and four young children, aged 6, 5, 4 and 2, the post said. One person was checked for minor smoke inhalation by St John paramedics after the blaze, Norris said.
