Canterbury Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew members were able to get Kayde Anderson out of the car, but were not able to resuscitate him. A rural Canterbury community has been hit "particularly hard" by a 9-year-old local boy's death in a flooded river, a Selwyn District councillor says. Selwyn councillor for the Ellesmere Ward, Murray Lemon, said Kayde's death was a tragedy for the Dunsandel community. "It's going to be particularly hard on the Dunsandel community [and I am] thinking of the school community there … they'll be particularly hard hit.
