Captain Andrew Ellis led from the front, taking 5-16 as Canterbury restricted Otago to 144-9 in their 20 overs. Canterbury were playing their first Super Smash game without Stokes after the England allrounder flew home on Saturday for family reasons. Canterbury knocked off the required runs in 18.1 overs with opener Nick Kwant leading the way with 48 from 35 balls.
