Assistance Dogs New Zealand Trust dog training co-ordinator Ashleigh Murray with Jack (left) and Hui. Four new canines have arrived in Ashburton - Jojo, Jack, Hui and Wiggles - and the assistance dogs in training are keen to explore their community. Once they have completed six months of training, the dogs will go to New Zealanders living with a disability. Assistance dogs also help improve fine and gross motor skills in clients. It costs $75,000 to raise and train an assistance dog and there are currently 43 graduated dogs working with clients.
