Photo: ODTTwo residents will vie for a Christchurch community board seat after it was left empty due to a lack of candidates in the October elections. Dawn Sutton, of Church Bay, and Teddington's Scott Winter will both run as independents in the Banks Peninsula Community Board by-election on February 18 to fill the vacant Mt Herbert Community Subdivision seat. Low pay has been cited as one of the reasons five former board members opted not to stand for another term. Community board members receive $9864 and the chairperson $19,729. However, both Ms Sutton and Mr Winter said the pay was not a factor in their decision to run.
