Candidates’ nonparticipation hurt League of Women VotersAs a member of the Northampton County League of Women Voters board, I agree that declining numbers and aging membership that limit leadership options are issues with which we have struggled. Readers of recent Voters Guides might have taken note that not all candidates responded to the requests for information — denying voters a full picture of all candidates. More disturbing was that the Northampton League has been unable to hold forums it traditionally offered in which candidates express their views and answer questions from voters because candidates from one party refused participation, denying the league the required nonpartisan format. It is difficult to claim partisan bias against the League when its “failing” is a result quite the contrary. He failed to point out that new car loans are triple what they were when President Biden took office.
