LONDON, United Kingdom – The number of cancer cases has continued to rise across Europe, however mortality rates from the disease have fallen, according to the World Health Organization’s “European Health Report”, published Wednesday. New breast cancer cases increased by 30 percent between 2000 and 2014, when 110 new cases were reported per every 100,000 women. Cervical cancer death rates have halved in the EU since the 1970s, with three deaths per 100,000 women in 2015. ADVERTISEMENTMortality rates in the CIS are more than twice as high, with 6.9 deaths per 100,000 women in 2014, which is unchanged since 1990. The average for the whole of the “Europe region” stood at 49 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2014.
