The Canadiens had the day off on New Year’s Day, but they did make a roster move, announcing after 5 p.m. that they have called up Dale Weise from the AHL’s Laval Rocket. Weise, 31, has 3-4-7 totals and is minus-3 in 27 games this season with the Rocket. Weise was pointless in nine games with the Canadiens last season after the trade. It was the third straight loss for the Canadiens, who have played their last seven games on the road, posting a 3-4-0 record. The Canadiens trail the Philadelphia Flyers by seven points for the final wild-card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
