Canada’s New Democratic Party chief Jagmeet Singh has gotten engaged to Indian-origin fashion designer Gurkiran Kaur, the politician has announced. Singh — the first minority community politician to lead a federal party in Canada — proposed to Kaur, 27, at a private party on Tuesday. CBC reported he surprised Kaur by popping the question in front of family and friends at a restaurant where they had their first date. The Toronto Star reported that when Singh was asked why had he decided to make this news public, he said he was excited about the engagement. Singh is a popular politician in Canada.
