MERIDA, Mexico — An official in Mexico has confirmed that a 74-year-old Canadian photographer was killed in the Yucatan state. State prosecutor spokesman Baruch Velasquez identified the Canadian as Barbara McClatchie Andrews. He says McClatchie Andrews ran an art gallery in the centre of Merida called “In Lak’Ech”. According to the gallery’s website, McClatchie Andrews spent part of her early career as a photojournalist, publishing in National Geographic. In a news release, the state prosecutor says the woman was found dead Friday morning on the side of the highway connecting Merida with Cancun.
