Canadian pair prepares for playoff round at world mixed doubles curling championship

Canada’s Laura Crocker and Kirk Muyres lost their final round-robin game at the world mixed doubles curling championship in Ostersund, Sweden, on Thursday, but had already comfortably advanced to the playoffs, which begin Friday. But a deuce in the seventh end by Jang Hyeji and Lee Kijeong prompted Crocker and Muyres to shake hands. Crocker usually plays mixed doubles with her fiancé, Geoff Walker, who was unavailable for the Canadian mixed tournament this year because he was playing with Brad Gushue at the men’s world championship. The 16th playoff team at the worlds was decided after the last draw of the round robin Thursday. In their closest match, Crocker and Muyres scored three in the final end to defeat Brazil 7-5 on Sunday.
