An Islamic State-linked media outlet confirmed one of their fighters captured in Syria is a Canadian man who “waged jihad with his voice and weapon” as the narrator of the terror group’s news and propaganda. Al-Muhajireen announced that Kurdish forces had arrested an ISIL media operative, a Canadian nicknamed Abu Ridwan Al-Kanadi. The voice sounds similar to the man in the ISIL video and the man in the SDF video. The Al-Muhajireen announcement on Sunday features a screen shot of the SDF video interview of Mohammad. Requests for comment from Global Affairs Canada over the capture of a Canadian ISIL soldier abroad have gone unanswered since Jan. 14.
