The Canadian Premier League is looking into allegations of racial slurs being levelled at Cavalry FC players during a soccer match in Hamilton, Ont. The league issued a statement Thursday:“The Canadian Premier League is aware of the accusations posted on social media following Tuesday night’s Canadian Championship game Forge FC vs. Cavalry FC,” said the statement. “The League is in direct communication with both Clubs to gather more information before referring the matter to Canada Soccer. “The Canadian Premier League and those associated with the league and clubs do not tolerate discriminatory, disrespectful or offensive behaviour of any kind, under any circumstances. An unconfirmed report says the Cavs were primarily incensed by abusive words from a Forge FC assistant coach.
