Canadian Economy Expanded 0.3% in January

OTTAWA—The Canadian economy expanded in January, beating expectations and fully offsetting declines that were posted in the previous two months. Canada’s gross domestic product, or the broadest measure of goods and services produced in an economy, increased 0.3% in January from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted 1.950 trillion Canadian dollars ($1.452 trillion), Statistics Canada said Friday. The result came in above market expectations, which were for a 0.1% advance, according to economists at Royal Bank of Canada.
