Canadian-American QB Brett Rypien to start for L.A. Rams vs. Packers

Canadian-American quarterback Brett Rypien will make his first start for the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday after veteran Matthew Stafford was ruled out with an injured right thumb. The nephew of Calgary native and Super Bowl XXVI MVP Mark Rypien signed with the Rams in May following a four-year run with the Denver Broncos. Rypien started three games in Denver and has thrown for 820 yards, four touchdowns, and eight interceptions over nine career regular season contests. He was a four-year starter at Boise State where he passed for 13,578 yards, 90 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions and was named first-team all-Mountain West Conference three times. The Rams (3-5) are scheduled to visit the Green Bay Packers (2-5) at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Sunday, November 5.
