Canada's annual inflation rate edged down to 2.3 per cent in January, Statistics Canada said on Tuesday, driven downward by a decline in the cost of gasoline. With gas excluded, January's inflation rate came in at three per cent. Shelter, cell service rates slow growthHousing price growth has been slowing year-over-year since early 2024, according to Statistics Canada. Rent prices slowed the most in Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. Cell service prices slowed in January to 4.9 per cent on a yearly basis compared to December's 14.6 per cent rate.
