WINNIPEG — Conservative foreign affairs critic Erin O’Toole says Canada should be part of any coalition that seeks to defend against missiles from North Korea — and it shouldn’t be afraid to put money on the table. “I don’t think any Canadian would want us to be a free rider,” O’Toole said on the margins of the Conservative Party’s caucus retreat in Winnipeg Thursday. It is said North Korea could be capable of launching an intercontinental ballistic missile, complete with a nuclear warhead, by next year. Ballistic missile defence would be one element of that discussion. The House of Commons national defence committee met in August to discuss an emergency meeting on the North Korean threat.
