Canada routs South Korea 91-45 at women's under-19 basketball World Cup

UDINE, Italy — An all-around attack led Canada past South Korea 91-45 on Saturday in the opener for both teams at the FIBA under-19 women’s basketball World Cup. Shaina Pellington of Pickering, Ont., Hamilton’s Hailey Brown, Toronto’s Alyssa Jerome, Calgary’s Summer Masikewich, Sarah Donovan of London, Ont., and Laeticia Amihere of Mississauga, Ont., all contributed 10 points in Canada’s win. “Our first game was good, but we still have a lot to work on,” said Amihere. “We were a little sloppy to get the game started today,” said Canadian head coach Carly Clarke. Canada will play France in its second game of the round-robin tournament on Sunday.
