Mohamed Labidi, vice-president of the Islamic cultural centre, is comforted by Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, left, and Quebec City Mayor Regis Labeaume, right. Investigators are just starting to unravel the motivation for the attack, which they say involved a single shooter, a young Quebec City man named Alexandre Bissonnette. The most absurd reaction to the Quebec City attack came, not surprisingly, from the Trump White House, which invoked it to justify the president’s ban on refugees and Muslim travelers. Trump’s team willfully confuses an attack on Muslims with an attack by Muslims. It either ignores or refuses to see that Muslims were the victims in Quebec City, not the perpetrators.
