But in a conference call with reporters, Freeland said she delivered a forceful defence of Canadian trade and economic interests. “Canada will have no position on the tax reform plan or the border adjustment tax idea until it is fully formed and is a concrete proposal,” she said. Freeland spent Tuesday and Wednesday in D.C., and Finance Minister Bill Morneau travels to Washington Thursday to meet with senior White House economic advisers. Freeland said she is meeting Canadian executives of the automotive sector and softwood lumber industry to prepare positions on NAFTA.
