Canada has evacuated 1,700 people out of Kabul — including 900 Afghans

Canada has processed about two-thirds of the 6,800 Afghan civilians in need of resettlement to this country and so far about 900 of them have arrived here, according to Canadian officials. In the latest flight that arrived Sunday night, a Canadian C-17 Globemaster carried 436 Canadian citizens and Afghan nationals to a third location. Hundreds of those passengers have already been transferred to other waiting flights en route to Canada, officials said. “The security situation surrounding the airport has become increasingly dangerous. “The area around the Hamid Karzai airport continues to be unsafe, and the situation is very fluid and unpredictable,” said officials.
