OTTAWA — With enough doses of COVID-19 vaccines in Canada to fully vaccinate everyone who is eligible, there’s simply no excuse to skip out on getting a shot, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday. What that means is not only can every Canadian who is eligible be fully vaccinated, but also that the Liberal government has hit its target for acquiring vaccine nearly two months ahead of schedule. In the meantime, the risk to those children is among many reasons unvaccinated Canadians should consider getting their shots if they can, Trudeau said. Roughly 80 per cent of Canadians who are eligible to be vaccinated have now had one dose, and 64 per cent are fully vaccinated. Trudeau said that only one half of one per cent of new COVID-19 cases are occurring in fully vaccinated people.
