Morris and Lawes have each won Olympic gold medals for their work as thirds, Morris for Kevin Martin at Vancouver 2010 and Lawes with Jennifer Jones at Sochi 2014. His Calgary team, which won the world title together in 2016, is aiming for Canada’s fourth straight Olympic men’s gold medal. Best chance of a guaranteed medal: Canada has reached the podium in every Olympic curling event since the sport officially returned to the Winter Games in 1998. Sweden has six medals in 10 tries, including two women’s gold, while Switzerland has five, one of them men’s gold. 1924 and 1932 were the only Olympic curling events until 1988, when it was reinstated as a demonstration sport in Calgary.
