In a “desperate plea” Friday to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, counsel for Vladyslav Zadorozhnyi, 15, said the “mentally vulnerable” failed refugee claimant has been “mistreated” by Canada to the point of attempted suicide, and his scheduled deportation to Ukraine on Sunday — the second in as many weeks — would be a death sentence. The first time Canada ordered Vladyslav and his family deported, in June, he overdosed on pills and was hospitalized. Late Friday afternoon, Federal Court of Canada cancelled an emergency 11th hour appeal, because Canada Border Services Agency had not yet even replied to a request to defer deportation. It demands details of that charge and its outcome within 30 days — a deadline more than two weeks after the scheduled deportation. They chose Canada, arriving last August, because Andriy heard its refugee system moved faster than those in Europe.
