TOKYO—Carlos Ghosn is likely to have a lengthy stay in a Japanese jail unless he confesses, say lawyers familiar with the justice system here. Mr. Ghosn, who was Nissan Motor Co.’s chairman until last month, was indicted Monday on charges of underreporting his compensation in company financial statements over the five fiscal years ended March 2015.
