Congress leader Ajay Maken is contesting from the New Delhi constituency where he is facing off against BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi this election. Maken had lost to Lekhi in 2014 but has won the Lok Sabha seat twice before, in 2004 and 2009. Maken, who was chief of the Delhi Congress, had stepped down from the post in January 2019. Maken was reportedly a big supporter of an alliance between the Congress and AAP in Delhi for the Lok Sabha polls. Maken said Congress supports the Delhi government having full administrative powers, barring three things the areas of land, law and order and police.
