Rohingya Muslims, who escaped from Myanmar with their lives during the latest spell of targeted violence, will be housed in an extended area behind Balukhali and Kutupalong refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar. The local administration is constructing camps and roads in a 2,000-acre forestland plot allotted for the Rohingya. Currently, about 800,000 Rohingya resided in the Cox’s Bazar camps, according to Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu. Asked if it was possible to keep more than 800,000 refugees in Balukhali, Ukhiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Main Uddin explained: “Balukhali and Kutupalong camps are spread over 600 acres. The Myanmar citizens will be kept in the 2,000-acre plot centering Balukhali and Kutupalong camps.
