Cameroon Plans to Participate in Medusa Africa Submarine CableAccording to Business in Cameroon, Cameroon has finalized the draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the participation in the Medusa Africa submarine cable. Cameroon’s investment in the Medusa Africa submarine cable system is estimated at CFA32.8 billion (approximately US$58.5 million). The European Commission has granted a fund of €14,3 million to support the MEDUSA AFRICA Submarine Cable System through CEF Digital programme. Currently, Cameroon is connected with five international submarine cable systems, i.e., SAIL, WACS (West Africa Cable System), SAT-3/WASC, NCSCS and Ceiba-2. Furthermore, the Ceiba-2 cable system allows the ACE (Africa Coast to Europe) submarine cable to be interconnected with Cameroon through direct fiber connections at cable landing stations in Bata, Equatorial Guinea.
