Dr Matthew Falder, a geophysicist, used the online names “666devil” and “evilmind” during a seven-year campaign of abuse in which he targeted children and adults. Birmingham crown court heard that he had degraded and humiliated more than 50 victims online and encouraged the rape of a four-year-old child. He pleaded guilty to 137 charges, including causing the sexual exploitation of a child, voyeurism and making and distributing indecent images of children. He created false identities on internet sites including Gumtree, the online marketing site, before persuading victims to send him naked or partially clothed pictures.
