AFTER being released from house arrest last month, Cambodian opposition leader Kem Sokha will now face a trial next month for treason. The Phnom Penh Post said that Sokha will stand trial on the conspiracy charge under the Cambodian Criminal Code. The Appeal Court on Monday held a two hour closed door hearing to decide whether to put Sokha on trial. The hearing was also attended by Sokha’s defence team and government lawyers. The Appeal Court also rejected an appeal filed by Sokha’s defence lawyers against the court’s decision that he be sent to trial.
