Call to ditch Mount Avenue cul de sac plan
The plan will see the creation of a cul de sac at the Mount Avenue sub-station. Funding for the €3.3million project had been approved in March 2017 in order to allow the development of lands at Mount Avenue which had lain dormant and would provide over 200 housing units. She asked that the local authority wait until the Western By-Pass is complete before turning Mount Avenue into a cul de sac. Cllr Sean Kelly branded the plan to turn Mount Avenue into a cul de sac as 'one of the main cruxes' to the project. 'The cul de sac issue is huge - it is cutting the community in two,' declared Cllr Marieanne Butler.
