Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare met with fan backlash, underwhelming sales and a disappointing reception in 2016 by fans and critics alike. In 2017, developer Sledgehammer will take Call of Duty "back to its roots." Will Call of Duty return to its World War II roots? That was an impressive first Call of Duty for the third studio in Activision's Call of Duty department. After all, plenty of people loved Infinite Warfare and Black Ops III and will want more of the same.
