WBToday saw the release of a new trailer for Ready Player One, the Steven Spielberg adaptation of the best-selling Ernest Cline book about a VR-based society and a giant contest within it to essentially, rule the world. Ready Player One is a favorite topic for geekdom to debate. I have to say though, from these trailers, I am genuinely excited to see how this plays out onscreen. The first time I read Ready Player One, I really loved it, and it was only later that I learned that it was super un-cool to actually like it. While the execution may be wobbly, I think there’s something fundamentally great about Ready Player One that all the “cool kids” like to ignore in favor of knocking it for its overabundance of references or questionable dialogue.
