California police kill unarmed man who they say pulled e-cig from pocket in ‘shooting stance’

Police had only previously revealed that 38-year-old Alfred Olango had pointed something that was not a weapon at the officers. Police Chief Jeff Davis said Olango pulled the device from his pocket, held it with both hands and took a “shooting stance” toward one of the two officers who were there. “I saw a man who was distraught, and a man acting like he was in great pain,” Wells said. Once the man struck the shooting pose, Drago said officers would have had to react quickly if he drew an unknown object from his pocket. Agnes Hassan, originally from Sudan, described Olango as an educated man with mental problems.
