CALGARY—A man contracted for a security role with the Calgary Police Service has been charged with assault over an alleged altercation while a man was being released after an arrest. Commissionaires are not Calgary police employees, but they are contracted by CPS for security-related roles, including helping process arrests. Police say commissionaires don’t have legal authority to use force while they’re processing arrests.
