Police have shut down a large-scale cannabis grow-op in northeast Calgary. The house had electrical, HVAC, plumbing and structural modifications to accommodate the illegal cannabis production, police say. Alberta Health Services and the City of Calgary have declared the residence uninhabitable. "Large-scale grow-ops like this pose an immense risk to the health and welfare of the occupants and neighbours," said Staff Sgt. "Homes that have alterations made to their electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems pose an extreme fire hazard and we've seen the deadly consequences in our city before."
