Calgary family forced to look for new apartment after complaints about crying baby

Mukesh Khanal says he's being forced to find a new apartment because his sick daughter had been crying at night, triggering complaints from a downstairs tenant. He says his landlord is not renewing their lease because of his daugther's crying during a recent illness. But she says that under the Alberta Human Rights Act, tenants cannot be discriminated against based on their family status. Minister for the Status of Women and Service Alberta Stephanie McLean says the Khanals may have a complaint to bring forward to the Alberta Human Rights Commission. Khanal is looking at filing a formal complaint with the Alberta Human Rights Commission.
